2/20 - Is "2" better than "3" on WMAL's morning show? My Presidents Day salute to Erik Wemple and FishbowlDC. Is there a new CBS-DC gag order imposed about talking to DCRTV? DC traffic diva Julie Wright and a DCRTV Mailbag controversy. And aircheck memories of Herndon's old WOHN and Jack Edwards. All in today's "Dave TV".....

2/18 - I do a speed read of the Washington Business Journal's piece on new CBS all-newser WNEW which features quotes from me. Also, a Gordon Peterson chicken recipe from a 1986 local media cookbook. Plus, more of how the Washington Post is quickly becoming a second-rate newspaper. Salem buys a new DC area station. And, Steve Harvey soon to be seen on Channel 4/WRC. These stories and more in today's "Dave TV".....

2/15 - Why does the Washington Post run an obit today for a Jamaican radio host who died on February 10th, when it hasn't yet run an obit for WPFW jazz legend Jamal Muhammad, who died on February 4th? Plus, more on the decline of DC TV news great Brian Wilson via crappy little WMAL. Also, I dig into "Dave's Magazine Collection" for a cool cult cinema pub. And, more on CBS-DC's signal problems, regarding 99.1, 106.7, and 107.9. Plus, Mike O'Meara goes live at the State Theatre in March. All in today's "Dave TV".....

2/14 - I take a look at the latest male demo radio ratings for the DC market, age 25-54. And sports talker WJFK ain't doing so good. Is there a "Lanham Curse" on the station? Plus, some of the first ratings for new all-newser WNEW. Also, some jingle memories of the old rock and contemporary hit WAVA, which got its plug pulled 20 years ago this week. In today's "Dave TV".....

2/11 - The Washington Post does a write-up on the WTOP/WNEW all-news radio battle in DC. Plus, I get a hammer in the mail from Channel 50/WDCW. Also, more on the sad and lonely FishbowlDC and how Betsy Rothstein should be pink-slipped. And much more in today's "Dave TV".....

2/10 - Why does the Washington Post keep editorializing in favor of environmental taxes for grocery bags but never mentions all those plastic bags the newspaper comes in for its home delivery subscribers? And, more about the nutty FishbowlDC. Plus, should CBS buy Frederick's 99.9 for a western DC suburb relay for WNEW? Also, WPFW jazz great Jamal Muhammad dies. And, a classic WTOP "ejaculated" traffic blooper. All this and more in today's "Dave TV".....

2/9 - Is Mix 107.3 being tweaked to appeal to a younger audience? Should CBS pick up bankrupt Nassau's WAFY 103.1 as a Frederick and western DC suburb relay for new all-newser WNEW? Is Mike Huckabee headed to WMAL? Should WMAL's Brian Wilson and former WMALer Ann Wog work to improve their driving skills? Will Paul Farhi take one of those new buyouts at the Washington Post? What's happening with Warrenton's 1250? I tackle these questions and more in today's "Dave TV".....

2/7 - More on rumblings that CBS Radio is looking for additional signals in Northern Virginia to bolster the coverage of new all-newser WNEW and Spanish El Zol, WLZL. Plus, more DC area radio memories, including Donnie Simpson in the 1970s, Doreen and Jim on WRC-TV, and the old Washington Star's TV magazine from the 1960s. Oh, I rant again about the frustrating WMAL. And much more in DCRTV's "Dave TV" today.....

2/4 - I open a surprise package from a DCRTV fan with memories of Kirk, Mark, and Lopez on 98 Rock, a WOL/WKYS/WMMJ Stone Soul Picnic t-shirt, another t-shirt from WPER on its fifth anniversary, the book "On The Radio" from WMAL legends Harden and Weaver, some Oprah memories, and much more. Plus, Big Tigger to NBC4? And, it was 40 years ago this month that my parents moved the family to the DC area. All in today's "Dave TV".....

1/28 - I tackle a batch of topics on this weekend's "Dave TV." With Erik Wemple breaking the Mark Plotkin leaving WTOP story Thursday, why did the Washington Post get Paul Farhi to do the Friday print write-up? How about WTOP replacing Plotkin's politcal show with one hosted by Chris Core? And, OK, WMAL moved to FM in September, but why won't it make any programming improvements to prevent a ratings slide? Perhaps CBS should do something different with 1580 like a relay of El Zol or PGC's Area 95.5. And, maybe DC area stations should better promote their HD Radio signals. Also, maybe the Washington Post should become a tabloid.....

1/26 - WNEW runs a news bulletin about WTOP firing Mark Plotkin on January 26.....

1/26 - The "money demo" age 25-54 radio ratings for the 4th week of the "holiday" period for DC and WTOP ain't on top. Plus, I take a look at some cool books from the DCRTV Library, including a new offering from DC radio vet TC called "Smoothies." Also, CBS finally closes on the 107.9 signal. And more in today's "Dave TV".....

1/24 - A mysterious source provides an audio "gag reel" for all-newser WNEW's first few days. And, we try to figure out what caused those mysterious Comcast Xfinity ads that ran on Channel 5/WTTG during the Giants-49ers game Sunday. And more in today's "Dave TV".....

1/22 - CBS Radio launches new DC area all-newser WNEW, 99.1 FM, at noon Sunday. And we have live video/audio of the first few minutes of the new station.....

1/22 - On this '80s synthpop weekend, I take you on a tour of some of the greatest synthpop jems of Dave's Record Collection.....

1/21 - Channel 4/WRC pays tribute to Mac McGarry, the host of "It's Academic" for the past five decades. Including video of 4's Friday news report and video of Saturday's appearance by Mac on the 10 AM edition of the local high school quiz show. WTOP's Hillary Howard is now the new host of the program. This and more at DCRTV's "Dave TV".....

1/20 - I check out Mark Segraves' interview running this weekend with now-former Washington City Paper writer Dave McKenna who comments on the lawsuit from Redskins owner Dan Snyder. Plus, more on Channel 5/WTTG's Steve Chenevey jumping to Channel 7/WJLA. And, more of my criticism of the old Washington Post. Also, Mac McGarry passes the hosting baton at Channel 4/WRC's "It's Academic." In today's edition of "Dave TV".....

1/18 - I rag on the Washington Post again, this time about interviewing Post employees for Post articles. Plus, area cable TV giant Comcast raises some prices come March. Is the cable TV business model of requiring you to buy channels you don't want to get the channels you do want somewhat broken? Eventually I'll get sick of this system and decide to move over to DirecTV or some other satellite TV provider. And, new CBS all-newser WNEW delays its launch. Justin Berk gone from Channel 2/WMAR. I interview 105.7 The Fan's Steve Davis for PressBox. And more in today's "Dave TV".....

1/17 - I take a look at the largely ad-free and more expensive Washington Post. Plus, China expands its DC area broadcasting and news operations. Also, I flash back to some WWDC jingles from the late 1960s and early 1970s, including one featuring Johnny Holliday. And: I continue counting down to the big WNEW launch, Politico will be distributed in NYC, big TV ratings for the Ravens, WMAL says adios to Lisa Baden, more trashing of WMAL's morning show, and yet more in today's "Dave TV".....

1/15 - More on the upcoming launch this week of CBS's new all-newser WNEW, and a big unveiling of the station at the Newseum. Plus, some more commentary about the Washington Post, including Saturday's Style section, which had only three articles. And, WMAL veterans and other radio greats pay tribute to Bill Trumbull, who died last week. All this and more in today's "Dave TV".....

1/13 - I take a look at CBS's actual coverage of the Air Florida Flight 90 crash into the Potomac River from January 1982. And, I speculate on the success of CBS's new all-newser WNEW, which launches next week. And offer a scenario for CBS to give the station a better signal. All in today's "Dave TV".....

1/11 - Some memories of WMAL legend Bill Trumbull, who passed away Tuesday, in today's edition of "Dave TV." Including some audio and pictures, and some ranting about what a great station WMAL used to be. And, the staff continues to grow at CBS's new all-newser, WNEW, including Frank Hanrahan and Lisa Baden. Plus, more stupid blunders in the Washington Post's local media coverage.....

1/7 - I continue to bitch and moan about more silly errors in the increasingly sad Washington Post's print edition. And, does Lisa de Moraes' lengthy " corporate TV insider" columns really belong in a local DC paper which, increasingly, fails to cover many local TV and media issues. Plus, my take on some of the most annoying local media news websites. I also take a look at the biggest local media news stories of the past week, including a launch date and anchor line-up for CBS's new all-news WNEW. All this and more in today's "Dave TV".....

1/3 - I put together all the dribs and drabs of news we've received over the past few weeks about the launch of CBS's new all-news WNEW, 99.1, and look at the staff the station is rumored to have assembled so far. And, I again call for CBS to put WNEW not only on 99.1 but on 106.7, too. And move sports talker WJFK to 94.7, and then "merge" Fresh and PGC on 95.5. In today's "Dave TV".....

1/1 - Will 2012 bring on the continued decline of the Washington Post? Also, my 2012 recommendations for DC and Baltimore area radio stations - including an FMer for WBAL and a flip to all-news, new all-newser WNEW on 99.1 and 106.7, some sports for WMAL, makeovers for WPGC and WRQX, Cerphe on DC101's HD2, WAMU grabs 90.1, TV for WTOP, WTEM to 105.1, WTMD expands to DC on AM, and more in the January 1 edition of "Dave TV".....
